PPL Launches Payroll Service
PPL’s Virtual Wallet solution is now firmly established as one of the leading options for the management of personal health budgets and direct payments. Previously, whilst Virtual Wallet captured timesheet entries and ultimately processed the payment of wages to personal assistants (and the associated tax, NI and pensions to the relevant authorities), the payroll calculations themselves were always performed by third-party payroll companies.
Whilst these arrangements with third-party payroll companies will continue where appropriate, PPL are now able to offer a seamless, in-house payroll service. This means that we will be able to provide a ‘one stop’ solution to individuals and their personal assistants, which will increase efficiency and reduce the risk of delays in the payroll process.
The development of our payroll solution has been spearheaded by two of PPL’s most experienced team members. Ian Price has championed the idea of an in-house payroll offering for a long time, and led the selection and implementation of a payroll software system and the associated integration and operating processes. Ian worked closely with Marta Klementowicz, who has built a wealth of payroll-related knowledge in recent years through dealing with third-party payroll companies on a day-to-day basis. Having completed the relevant qualifications, Marta will be responsible for overseeing our payroll team on an ongoing basis.
The pricing of the service is both competitive and straightforward. There are no setup fees, no admin fees and no hidden charges for things like pensions. Instead, we simply charge for each payslip that we generate.
We onboarded the first personal assistants successfully over summer and are now starting to offer the payroll service to our other clients. Whilst it is envisaged that most people will be utilising Virtual Wallet alongside the payroll service, we are able to offer the payroll service on a standalone basis.
